Editor's Note: Hurricane season is from June 1 through November 30. The Humane Society of Greater Miami is urging pet owners to act now to properly prepare pets in case of a hurricane. HSGM recommends the following: Visit the clinic or hospital where you plan to board your animal. Make a reservation whenever possible. Bring a crate or a carrier for your pet. Bring a minimum 5 day supply of pet food. Be sure your pet is wearing its collar with I.D. and rabies tag. Supply an out-of-state contact. Do not board your pet at a clinic or hospital that is in an evacuation zone. Remember, pet boarding facilities require your pet's vaccinations to be up-to-date.
